Work Study Program

We are looking for mature and responsible Work Study Students who are happy to represent BAA’s student talent and work ethic at it’s finest! WSS have the opportunity to continue their musical theatre training while taking on leadership roles within BAA. We select a small group of students for each Workshop, Intensive, and Master Classes.

Studying in New York City is an invaluable experience for any young performer, but it can also be a large financial commitment! For this reason, BAA offers a Work Study program where qualified alumni may participate in classes and programs in exchange for working with the BAA staff during their time of study. Basically, this means that you can attend a One Day Master Class, Workshop or Intensive for free simply by working during that program!

Work Study Students (WSS) are given many responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to: setting up and breaking down classrooms (chairs, banners, audio/video equipment, etc.), assisting BAA Staff Members and Guest Instructors during classes, video taping classes and uploading videos to our database, completing administrative tasks, running errands, monitoring hallways and lunch rooms, and assisting with custodial duties (lunch clean-up, taking out the trash, etc.).

Because balancing student life with Work Study duties can be challenging, candidates must be hard-working, positive, and mature team players. Spaces in the Work Study program are limited and BAA strives to offer Work Study opportunities to as many students as possible. As such, we cannot specify the number of classes or programs you will be invited to work in any given year, and participation in one class or program does not guarantee future participation. Students may not Work Study more than 5 Master Classes or 2 summer programs in one academic year (students who work 2 summer programs may also work the Winter Workshop if it is offered to them). There is no fee or tuition for participation. There is no salary or compensation. NYC housing and food are not included and are the responsibility of the WSS.

If you believe you would be a strong candidate for the Work Study program, please complete the application below. The Work Study Coordinator will be in touch within one week of the date you submit your application. If you have questions about the program or if you have not been contacted within one week of your application submission date, please contact Ashleigh Junio at ashleigh@broadwayartistsalliance.org.
