Anastasia-themed Master Class

One step at a time is the way to Broadway!

Work hand-in-hand with the team of Broadway’s latest hit, Anastasia, in this full day Master Class. Participants will start the day with Anastasia‘s Associate Choreographer, Adam Cates, working on your royal dance moves, followed by a busy afternoon with Anastasia herself, Christy Altomare, to focus on your singing and song interpretation skills**.

Participants should be ready to sing and and perform 16-32 bar cuts of your favorite songs. Bring your sheet music in a 3-ring binder, properly marked and in the correct key. Participants will be working with a live accompanist.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Christy Altomare is originating the role of Anya in the Broadway production of Anastasia, after working on the role in the Hartford Stage pre-run. Christy made her Broadway debut as Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden Theater, and has also be seen as Sue Snell in the re-imagined MCC Theater off-Broadway production of Carrie, and as Jerusha Abbott in the Detroit run of the new musical Daddy Long Legs. Christy also played the role of Wendla Bergmann in the first touring cast of Spring Awakening. She has released 3 independent albums and has also worked as a composer for the productions Solied Doves and Anon[ymus]. She’s a graduate of CCM. Adam Cates is the Associate Choreographer for Broadway’s Anastasia. He was also the Associate Choreographer of the Tony® Award-winning Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and its US National Tour. Broadway/National Tour credits include: Anything Goes (Tony® Award for Best Revival), Dr. Dolittle, and The Wizard of Oz. TV credits include 90210 and Live From Lincoln Center. Adam has worked with Sutton Foster, Joel Grey, Tommy Tune, Shirley Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker, Patti LuPone, Shanae Grimes, Constantine Maroulis, and Susan Graham. His Directing and/or Choreographing credits include productions for Lincoln Center, Juilliard Opera, New York Musical Festival, 54 Below, Anchorage Opera, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Gulfshore Playhouse, New London Barn Playhouse, Sondheim Center. Associate Choreographer credits include: Goodspeed Musicals, Paper Mill Playhouse, The Old Globe, Hartford Stage, Santa Fe Opera, Seattle Opera, NY City Center, and others. Adam is the author of the best-selling guidebook for aspiring professional performers, The Business of Show, and has been an invited guest lecturer and resident artist at universities across North America.

One Day Master Classes are open to students ages 10-21, and class size is typically limited to 18 participants to ensure that each student receives personal attention from our special guest instructors. Enrollment will be closed two weeks prior to the Master Class date, or when the class becomes full – whichever comes first.
