BAA Media, Music, and Administrative/Educational Paid Summer Internships

We are currently seeking three seasonal department interns to assist with our NYC summer programs, which include Master Classes, Workshops, and Intensives with Broadway professionals. Applicants should have a strong passion for the arts and be knowledgeable about musical theatre and the Broadway community. We are looking for college seniors, recent college graduates, and young professionals with excellent communication skills and a sincere interest in cultivating talented young musical theatre artists! Candidates must be friendly and professional at all times as they will be working with, Tony Award winners, current Broadway stars, and top NYC industry members.  Past guests and Master Class instructors include: Sutton Foster, Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Schwartz, Bebe Neuwirth, Alice Ripley, Megan Hilty, Lea Michele, Gregory Jbara, Michael Cerveris, Lea Salonga, Laura Benanti, Kelli O’Hara, Ashley Brown, Jonathan Groff, Chris Jackson, Norm Lewis, Beth Leavel, Lilias White, John Lloyd Young, Stephanie J. Block, Norbert Leo Butz, Marc Shaiman, John Gallagher Jr. etc.

Interviews will be conducted on May 3rd and May 4th in New York City. All internships begin June 1st, 2015, and conclude on August 21st, 2015. Interns will work approximately 20 hours per week during prep weeks (June 1st to July 5th) and the final week of the internship (August 17th to 21st) and full time during program weeks (July 6th to August 14th). During prep weeks, internship hours are flexible; during program weeks, interns should expect to work from 9am-7pm and may also be asked to chaperone evening activities, such as attending a Broadway show or special event. Full or part-time college credit can be arranged for variable credits. Applicants with partial availability during the above listed time period will be considered, but priority will be given to applicants who are available to begin June 1st and have no scheduling conflicts for the duration of the internship.

All candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. A basic understanding of Word Press, Filemaker Pro, and Adobe Photoshop are also a plus, but not required for consideration. Good opportunity for growth and promotion within the company!

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

Media/ Video Intern (1 position)- Candidates should be in pursuit of, or have completed a degree in media or a related field. Duties will include filming and editing promotional/tutorial videos, overseeing a video archive system, maintaining social media, photography assistance, marketing, ad placement and design, and other duties as assigned. Applicant should submit examples of their video filming/editing skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Additional web design, SEO, and social media experience a plus. Please list all editing/design programs you have knowledge of and your level of proficiency in those programs. Weekly stipend provided. Applicant must provide their own housing arrangements in or near NYC.

Music Internship (1 position)- Candidates should be in pursuit of or have completed a degree in music and they must have excellent piano/accompaniment skills. Ability to sight read music and familiarity with musical theatre repertoire a must. Composition/Arranging skills a plus. Duties include playing/ accompanying for Master Classes with Broadway performers and final showcase performances, assisting our Music Department Head with the creation and upkeep of a database of cross-referenced song titles, research of song titles to be added to database, organization of sheet music, music studio booking and scheduling, music preparation, classroom monitoring, and other duties as assigned. Promotion within the company is likely for qualified accompanists. Weekly stipend provided with additional compensation for private coaching opportunities a possibility. Applicant must provide own housing arrangements in or near NYC.
Educational/Administrative Internship (1 position)- Candidates should have excellent communication and organizational skills, be familiar with Microsoft Office, and have at least a basic knowledge of web design and social media. A degree in theatre administration, arts education, or music/ theatre performance is highly preferred. Knowledge of Word Press, Filemaker Pro, and Adobe Photoshop a plus. Duties include administrative assistance, general website upkeep, student coaching (monologues, songs, etc.), personal assistance to high profile guests, studio booking and scheduling, press and marketing assistance, telephone correspondence with participants and industry, music and sides preparation, music and sides preparation, assisting at auditions and in master classes, video-taping and monitoring Broadway Master Classes for class archives, and other duties as assigned.
