Broadway Artists Alliance is thrilled to continue our Weekly Online Class Series, to provide our students with top-notch training, industry insight, and a strong sense of community during this challenging time.

Students will work consistently with the same group of peers for the duration of each three, four or six week series, forging new relationships, connecting with old BAA friends, and gaining a wide range of insight from the best of Broadway – right from the comfort of home!

Registered students will receive guidance from BAA’s Directors on how best to prepare for their online class series. This information will touch on how to set up their surroundings, lighting, and technology for effective class participation, where to find digital accompaniment to sing with, and more. We will set you up for success and ensure you get the most out of your online experience! (Ready to start with some basics? Get them here!)

Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 participants per class series.

Click HERE to register into your preferred level!

STARTING JANUARY 9th, 2021 our popular Dance Legends Series is BACK! Study the lives, styles and vocabulary of top legendary Broadway choreographers!  Explore these choreographers’ unique work and styles as we move through the legends of Contemporary Musical Theatre!  Learn a new combination of original (and iconic) Broadway choreography each week and get ready to nail your next Broadway dance call, no matter what your current level of dance.

This is a class that no serious musical theatre performer should go without! Each 90 minute class includes a warm up, history and discussion on each choreographer, and a short combination with particular detail paid to mastering their iconic dance styles (upated order!):

Class 1 – Jan. 9th: Bill T Jones (Fela!, Spring Awakening, and more!)
Class 2 – Jan. 16th: Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton) with guest instructor Christopher Rice (Hamilton, Book of Mormon & more!)
Class 3 – Jan. 23rd: Tommy Tunes (Nine, The Will Rogers Follies, and more!)
Class 4 – Jan. 30th:  Twyla Tharp (Movin’ Out, Come Fly Away, and more!)
Class 5 – Feb. 6th: Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie) & Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes)
Class 6 – Feb. 20th: Sergio Trujillo (Ain’t Too Proud) & Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Legally Blonde, and more!)

This series is open to all interested participants without the need to audition!

Two Dance Levels Available:
⭐️ 2:00- 3:30pm ET Class: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Level Dancers (For singer/actors who “move well” but are serious about improving their dance skills). Those attending this class will walk away with a great working foundation in theatre dance. In this class, you’ll learn the same advanced combinations as in the advanced schedule, but extra attention will be given to explaining and breaking down dance terminology and fundamental technique. You will rise to the challenge!

⭐️ 4:00- 5:30pm ET Class: Intermediate to Advanced Level Dancers (At least 4 years or more of dance training and/or a very strong working foundation, facility and skill set in theatre dance is recommended). In this class, we’ll get nitty gritty into the specific nuances of each of their styles. Advanced combinations will be taught quickly but also broken down stylistically with care. More advanced dancers with the goal of mastering multiple styles while continuing to advance their dance audition technique skills will benefit from this class.

The basics about BAA online classes:

What you’ll need to have:

  • An internet connection.
  • A computer or connecting device with a camera.
  • A secondary device in which to play your accompaniment track (for vocal sessions).
  • A quiet space to connect from.
  • A headset for when you are listening to other people perform or the instructor speak! (You can remove them when it is your turn to perform!)

.

How will it work?

  • We will meet using ZOOM.
This is a free service you may already have. Please, download the latest version to guarantee a smooth connection and use of all the latest features. When creating your user name, please make sure it features the student’s NAME and/or LAST NAME so you can be easily and properly identified by the instructor.
  • Logging into your ZOOM class room.
You’ll receive a Zoom class room link before the start of the first session of your selected series. This will be the same link you’ll use every week to connect.
  • Only participants registered in the Master Class will be allowed in. So, reserve your spot in a timely manner!
  • Your instructor will be accompanied by a BAA Staff member during each Master Class. The BAA staff member will supervise, address and help with any technical questions, and guarantee each performer gets equal work time with the instructor. During vocal classes, we will lead a warm up right before so everyone is ready to sing!
